However, several victims have asked me (after I tell them I'm a law student) if there are any pro bono services being offered in Lafayette and the surrounding area. I have made some calls and searched online but haven't found anything helpful. Does anyone have any info I could relay to these people? A lot of them are concerned about their ongoing litigation, workman's comp issues, etc. If anyone reading the blog has any info, please email me: redsonia7@gmail.com.
Dear Civil Law Classmates,

Yesterday I called Claitior's Publishing Division: Baton Rouge, who publishes our Civil Law Property Book for oneLs, to see if they would replace out book for free or a lower price. The Company told me they wish they could, but they would not replace out book for free or for a lower price. So, I called and e-mailed some students from Southern University of Law and LSU. Several Southern University Law students responded, and they are willing to donate their book to us:
So, if you are missing your Civil Law Property Coursebook, and you do not mind a used one, please let me know by e-mailing me at cjsweet04@yahoo.com/ Subject Line: Civil Law Property Book Replacement, Name, number, and e-mail address. I need to let the Southern University student coordinator know the number by Sunday afternoon. I will ask for five extras just in case.

To Faculty,
If Claitor's Publishing will replace our book for free, could you please let me know how to obtain it. If not, classmates just let me know, and I will bring them down with me when I move to Houston. cjsweet04@yahoo.com

Does anyone know what's being done with the local courts, specifically CDC, 24th, and St. Bernard? I know 5th Circuit went to Houston, but that's all I've seen. As we've seen, these situations sometimes bring out the worst in people, and I've already got family members with custody issues, there's a concern as to the rights each parent has, and whether the non-domiciliary (can never spell that) can keep the domiciliary parent from disrupting the little stability to the child's life thats managed to be establish.

I also have my own (or rather my office's) clients and cases that were pending, I still haven't found my boss (Steven Psarellis). I realize everything's on hold, but especially with the custody issues. Our office was in Canal Place, and the last I heard about that was Saks 5th Ave. had a fire....

Along with those issues, there's a concern as to what happened with the July Bar exams. I know a few people that took it, and like everything else, rumors abound on the different blogs...

Any info available would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some housing information we've put together for Loyola students who will be attending the satellite program in Houston (also available at www.law.uh.edu/admissions/Tulane_Loyola.htm) that may be useful to share on your site:

Housing Information

We are attempting to find hosts for students in need of temporary housing. If you are in need of temporary housing, please complete the Temporary Housing information form. Someone will contact you as more information becomes available.

We have also created a group on Yahoo groups so that Loyola students seeking roommates in Houston can communicate with other Loyola students. The group homepage is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/loyolalawinhouston/. The email address for the group is loyolalawinhouston@yahoogroups.com.

The Houston Apartment Association has created a list of member properties with available units and leasing specials for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Many are offering no- or low-cost move-in specials. http://www.haaonline.org

Commercial apartment locators can be very useful in your search for an apartment or other housing accomodations. The following locators have worked with our past and current students, and may be able to acquaint you with the Houston area.
