Welcome to the Post-Katrina Blog

This is a weblog for members of the Loyola-New Orleans Law School community to use for communicating about school-related matters while communication via the law school and university's systems are unavailable.

I'm Eric Muller, a law professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law. I offer this resource to the affected communities with my best wishes for a quick recovery from the devastating blow you've suffered.

Please send information for posting to the address listed in the title bar above, or phone me at the number listed above and leave a message.

I'm the Vice Dean at the University of Houston Law Center. I'm working with Dean Bromberger, who is exiled here in Houston.

We have a guest room available for displaced any Loyola law student attending one of the Houston-area law schools. We are in League City, about 20 miles southeast of Houston. As parents of a Loyola alumna who herself is a law student at South Texas College of Law, we would like to help other law students. Contact by email at cuchenstx@earthlink.net

South Texas College of Law extends its heartfelt sympathies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We have registered 21 second and third year students from Loyola and Tulane Law Schools, who will begin classes on Tuesday, September 6th. These students will visit for the fall semester free of tuition and fees, if paid at the home schools. Students have been admitted at this time based on their representations of good standing .

As our semester is already in progress, faculty members will conduct make-up sessions to bring visiting students current. Many students have found housing with area relatives. For others, the student organizations at South Texas have organized successful efforts to provide housing and will continue efforts to collect and distribute necessary supplies.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the courageous neighbors of the city of Houston.

Helen Jenkins
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
South Texas College of Law
