I read (on Wikipedia I think) that John Lennon wrote the first two lines of "I Am The Walrus" on two separate LSD trips, and that he intentionally made the lyrics so nonsensical so as to gratuitously confuse the students of some local teacher who had his students analyze Beatles lyrics. Keep in mind, of course, that Magical Mystery Tour was released just after Sgt. Pepper, the album which Frank Zappa parodied with "Were Only In It For The Money." I guess great musicians have more in common with great politicians than meet the eye.

I admit that I don't know Oasis, at least by name, but this cover is pretty unimaginative, and the energy is flat. Even the haircut's derivative. From this, you'd think that it was the lyrics, not the layered sound, that made the song special....
