America -- a Treasonist Country
Cheney trotted out the same line two years later, during the run-up to the '06 midterm elections.
Here we go again. The WaPo reported today how Bush is once again trying to stifle dissent from his ride-off-the-cliff policies in Iraq.
I think it's fair to say now that this line of bullshit has lost its stench. America spoke in November '06. Bush's Iraq policy had its accountability moment. It lost. Ergo . . . it must be Americans who're to blame now for sending the wrong message to the terrorists.

what is encouraging after 3000 of our young have left their lives on iraqui soil....is that the american people have finally awaken and realized that this war has been and continues to be a total deception...from valery plame and joe wilson totally dedicated intelligent workers for the government who've been the target of the highest offices of the land..to the creation of the lies from our "intelligence" which were known to be lies by the office of the president..regarding wmd....and the lies of iraq seeking nuclear materials from nigeria...it is very apparent to the american people excepting for the gop good ol boy network...that we've been decieved ...now they continue to try and sell us the 21,500 more soldiers to iraq.....and they say..after all of thus far faliure..."let us try this.."! dear gw and cheney ..how dumb do you think the americans are?you've been telling us all along that we are winning in iraq and that you had enough troops and everything is going well..and now you say you need more troops..you've been saying that the buck stops there ..with you mr. president..but your rhetoric has'n hit the fan...step down george you and cheney both..

richard j. manzi, it's interesting to see somebody still touting little lying Joey Wilson. Have you seen what the Wash. Compost had to say about him in some of their recent editorials?

Dear Dufus,
"Treasonist" is not a word. It's "treasonous." Technically a country can be treasonous because the primary definition of "treason" is "the betrayal of a trust." However, it's clear from your (mis)usage of it that you meant "attempting to overthrow the government of the state." This applies to a person or group of people, not the country itself.
Perhaps we should apologize to the Iraqi people for removing Hussein. Why cause civil unrest while overthrowing a genocidal dictator when we could have just left well enough alone. He'd have eventually died anyway, right? Screw the skeletons in the mass graves. No WMDs found means we should have left him there to continue his atrocities.
And imagine if it actually were a "war for oil." Open a history book. Wars are fought for crucial resources. Our country runs on oil. Your hybrid car won't cancel out every area of industry being dependent upon oil. Clearly it's not a "war for oil" because we didn't take the oil.
