To George Will: "Words Hurt"

I
n his column today, George Will lambasts Senator-elect James Webb from Virginia because of his, some might say, brusque exchange with a President who spent the better part of the last days leading up to the election calling Democrats in essence cowards and traitors.

Sorry, Mr. Will, but a President who abuses his bully pulpit in a harshly partisan way during a what he himself calls a "war" doesn't deserve the respect of a man who's fought in war and whose son is doing the same.

Bush got what he deserved. You'd be smart to be a little more brusque yourself . . . toward Bush, that is.

Exactly. It's hypocritical to ask for respect for a man who has shown so little respect for the Constitution; for his oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution; for the military he has put into harm's way; and for the American people. To show him respect is to disrespect his office.

I agree with you. So,if I meet Bill Clinton, who has bombed and killed civilians in Kosovo and sent men to their deaths in Somalia, I can remind him he's a draft dodger. Or if I meet Hillary, Kerry, Gore, etc. I can remind them of the millions of unborn babies their party allows to be killed by women who simply don't wish to have children with the men they have sex with.

Hmmmmm. Interesting. By the way, Bush served in the Air National Guard, or are the thousands of men and women in the Guard not serving the country?

Jim, you say Bush served in the Air NG. Do you know for a fact that he actually served?

It seems that Will left out part of the exchange to make Webb look bad. After the intial "How's your boy" question, and Webb's "I want them out" response, the President was reported to have said, "That's not what I asked you," and then repeated his earlier question. The President's words don't sound all that civil, either. Does that make Will less than honest?
