Our Nation Turns Its Lonely Eyes To Jew. (Woo Woo Woo.)

T
his otherwise excellent article inexplicably fails to mention Joe Shlabotnik.

Inexplicably missing from the article is the name of southpaw pitcher Kenny Holtzman -- former Cub, Athletic, Oriole, and YANKEE during his 15-years in the majors.

Forget Jewish lefthanders. Holtzman was one among the elite lefthanders of his era (1965-1979), period. [Others included Steve Carlton, Jerry Koosman, Claude Osteen, Jim Kaat, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, Mickey Lolich.]

Holtzman won 174 games during his career--which was 9 more than Koufax, who played only 12 years and started 314 games to Holtzman's 15 and 410.

He threw 2 no-hitters as a Cub. (As a side note, his second no-hitter came on 6/3/01 against the Reds in Cincinnati. The Reds, suffering a miserable hangover from their '70 NL championship season, were then "No Hit" again just 20 days later at home by the Phillies' Rick Wise, who also hit two homers and came within one pitch of a perfect game.)

Holtzman was a 2-time allstar.

He finished in the top 10 in wins five times.

He was among the league leaders in games started five seasons -- and presently is 99th in career total starts in major league history.

He won 17 or more games six times (including 21 in '73, and 19 in '72 and '74.

He batted .667 in the '73 world series against the Mets (along with winning 2 games), and he hit .500 with 1 HR against the Dodgers in the '74 world series, winding up as a career .308 world series hitter.

But does it also not mention the movie "Airplane"?
