Note that several of the methods have yet to be tested.

Broiled in a spoon on a stove top.

The cockroach dies.

Maximum survivable temperature has not been determined.

[I was a mean kid sometimes.]

Pawed at by cat for an indeterminate period of time, then proudly delivered by cat jaw to the lap of unsuspecting human:
The cochroach survives; the human
jumps three feet into the air.

Cat repeated experiment three times
over course of two years. Both roach
and human responses were identical in
each trial.

Repeated whacks via rolled-up newspaper by startled human:
The cochroach survives approximately
seven whacks before its movement stops.
Subject cochroach was not given the
opportunity for possible revival.

This experiment was also replicated
three times; essentially similar
results each time. Whacking force
of rolled-up newspaper was not
determined. Subject cochroach was
whacked on padded carpet, which
prevented crushing force from being
efficiently applied.

on a slightly tangential note, it appears there is now a market for decorated Madagascar hissing cockroaches as jewelry
