Oh man, that second comic brought back an almost overpowering toddler memory of a Sesame Street skit. ..muppet with GINORMOUS hair goes in for a hair cut. ."I hadn't seen mah BAAAAAWDY since nine teen sixty THREEEEE". ..snippety snip, snippety snip. . . .

From the Bob Jones dress code (note that girls may not look masculine or "worldly"):

Boys:
Boys must have their hair cut so that the back is tapered and does not come over the collar or ears. They may not shave the sides above the ear or have a shelved haircut. Sideburns are to be no longer than the lower opening of the ear. In front the hair must not fall lower than two finger widths above the eyebrows. Inaddition, boys may not spike their hair or wear it in any way that looks as if theyhave not combed it. Just running your fingers through moussed/gelled hair is not acceptable. Mousse/gel may be used to style hair but must be combed or brushed out before coming to school. A hairstyle may look wet but must be neatly combed and may not look tangled or spiked. We do not permit our young men to color or dye their hair.

Girls:
Hairstyles must reflect neatness and order. In front, the hair must not hang into the eyes or fall lower than the top of the eyebrows. Hairstyles cut so short that they take on a masculine look are not permitted. Also hairstyles which reflect current worldly trends (such as shelved cuts, extremely short cuts or cuts that shave part of the head) are not acceptable.

Fashion being what it is, they must have to change the haircut rules about every six months. That seems like a lot of work to me.

How do you feel about Muslims and their dress and/or lifestyle requierments? How about the little hat that jews are required to wear? Is there any religion besides Christianity that you make fun of?

This is an ignorant elitist post by someone who thinks they are superior to those at Bob Jones.

Where's the tolerance hypocrite?

Greg,

I wasn't aware that it was Christianity that requires short hair.

Somebody better tell this guy to get with the program!

As for whether there are religions besides Christianity that I make fun of: come on--you've gotta admit that the Bahai folks are a hoot and a half!

"what if BJ didn't have haircheck"

my innor adolescent is having hysterics.

Well, I would hope that BJU would make an exception for girls who had to undergo chemotherapy for cancer and there hair has only recently started to grow back, or are the girls expected to wear wigs until their real hair grows back?

Greg,

Tolerance, in the political sense, means not restricting an action by law, or by private force. It doesn't mean refraining from laughing at what one finds ludicrous. I'm perfectly fine with the good folks at BJ requiring whatever haircuts they like best for those who attend their school. I doubt that many of the people going to BJ have a problem with it, and if they do, there are plenty of other universities.

I still think it's a hoot though.

And no, I don't laugh at muslims. There's not much about them that I find amusing these days.

As for Jews, though, I laugh at them all the time... Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, etc. Hilarious.
