Is That Lite?
- With Intelligent Design very much in the news these days, you'll want to bone up on all the competing theories before hitting those Christmas cocktail parties. Here's the Wired interview with the father of pastafarianism about creation, religion, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
- Scientists have discovered two new rings around Uranus. Watchers of Uranus will have more to see this holiday season!
- After digesting the latest writings on comparative religion and astrophysics, you'll need a cool-down lap. Here's 17 dogs, 4 cats and a bunny.
Enjoy! See you Saturday.

So?
I hear endless references during this Christmas season to the Pastaferians. Usually from my nominally religious relatives. Usually the ones most ignorant about Christian teachings, and the role of Christianity in our nation's history.
While good for a chuckle or two, this is nothing new under the sun. It should be noted that the other tongue-in-cheek "religion" The Church of the Subgenius (Praise Bob!) has been around for quite a while longer. And does not get nearly the press that the deliberately smash-mouth satirical "Pastaferians" do.
Why is that? Could it be that the plucky young physics graduate behind this newest attack on people of faith takes himself much more seriously than the Subgenius crowd does? Could it be that this dovetails with the media's desire to create controversy whenever possible?
In any event, the contempt for his opponents is what is most revealing. How is he so sure that there is no God? Is HE the creator? The pursuit of science, or academics, does not preclude a belief in God. something that many scientists, such as Mr. Henderson often forget, is that science is inherently amoral.
I could start my own religion, the "Church of Scientology". Oh yeah, it's been done.
Please don't sue me Mr. Cruise!
