Post-Katrina Blogs for Tulane and Loyola-New Orleans Law School Communities

I
have set up blogs for the Tulane and Loyola-New Orleans Law School communities to use, if they wish, during their period of recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

The Tulane blog is at http://www.isthatlegal.org/tulanelaw.

The Loyola-New Orleans blog is at http://www.isthatlegal.org/loyno.

Please help spread the word to anyone in the affected communities. Tell them that they can post to the blog by sending an email to tulanelaw at isthatlegal dot org or to loyno at isthatlegal dot org, or by phoning me at (919) 962-7067 and leaving a message.

Eric, as a loyal reader of your site, I'd just like to send a personal thanks for setting up these blogs. I am a 3L at Tulane Law School. Emory University has been kind enough to give Tulane an emergency web contact point: http://www.law.emory.edu/cms/site/index.php?id=1003.

Dean Larry Ponoroff has instructed 3Ls to seek transient status for the fall semester at those law schools that are willing. 1Ls/2Ls were asked to wait until further notice.

For anyone looking for neighorhood specific flood/storm damage/looting information, check out ttp://www.nola.com/forums/townhall/.

I ran across a list from the AALS re other law schools offering assistance to displaced LA students. If you're here in Houston with me, I will post any info I run across from STCL, UHLC, or TSU here

South Texas College of Law extends its heartfelt sympathies to the
> victims of Hurricane Katrina. We have registered 21 second and third
> year students from Loyola and Tulane Law Schools, who will begin classes
> on Tuesday, September 6th. These students will visit for the fall
> semester free of tuition and fees, if paid at the home schools. Students
> have been admitted at this time based on their representations of good
> standing .
>
> As our semester is already in progress, faculty members will conduct
> make-up sessions to bring visiting students current. Many students have
> found housing with area relatives. For others, the student organizations
> at South Texas have organized successful efforts to provide housing and
> will continue efforts to collect and distribute necessary supplies.
>
> Our thoughts and prayers go out to the courageous neighbors of the city
> of Houston.
