I Propose The Government Maintain a List of Everyone Who Eats Baba Ghanouj

M
assachusetts governor (and 2008 Republican presidential candidate) Mitt Romney seeks the wiretapping of mosques.

Naturally, the Boston Globe article reporting on this charming proposal casts those alarmed by the proposal as "civil libertarians" and "immigrants' rights advocates."

Have we really reached the point where it's just "civil libertarians" who get nervous when powerful politicians propose the suspicionless wiretapping of houses of worship?

Do we have any evidence that the government hasn't already started doing this?

Don't forget the Catholic churches. Lots of Irish Catholic terrorists around still. And the Protestant ones too of course. They've been attacking the police in Ireland just in the past few days. And Utah rebelled against the US once so the Mormon temples need some serious monitoring. The Buddhist monks who dowsed themselves with gasoline and burned themselves up to protest the Vietnam War were just really slow, really ineffective suicide bombers so we'll need to keep an eye on that kind of radical extremists. Essentially, alone among the world's religions, we Pastafarians have no history of violent extremism so we're protected by the First Amendment.

If I find a listening device in my church I will take it to The Tavern one thursday night, which is karaoke night, and croon "Killing Me Softly (with his song)" to it.
