Gore-for-Porn Hits the MSM

T
he Iraq gore-for-porn story that you read about here last Tuesday, and that was picked up by Wonkette and Andrew Sullivan, makes the jump to the big Times today.

Not sure why the role of bloggers in developing the story isn't getting more attention ... maybe if Powerline had discovered the story it'd be different.

In any event, I'm pleased to see that the story is getting the attention it deserves.

UPDATE: CNN has the story now too.

eric -- i didn't realize that the website (nowthatsfuckedup) was such a big secret; i stumbled across it about six months ago. while the gore-for-porn (gee, sounds like al's political platform?) story is indeed horrid, i'm surprised that another issue hasn't come up: the posting of naked pictures of american servicewomen. the vast majority of the photos (still visible in the non-member area) are photos that had been cached in public computers when they were sent as e-mail attachments (likely by the servicewomen to boyfriends/girlfriends and such). issues of copyright aside, i'm rather disgusted that these women's fellow soldiers consider them fair game to use to obtain free porn.

Misleading headline? I was wondering if the winner of the 2000 presidential election took his cable network in an unexpected direction.

I notice that today Andrew Sullivan claims he "broke" the story of this gore-for-porn website. Strange, considering that IsThatLegal was on the story before Sullivan. (Indeed, even Sullivan's original story credits Eric Muller.)
