"A Single, Lonely Piece of Equipment"

F
rom a press release from Senator Mary Landrieu:
"Perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment."

This is obscene.

It seems we're so overwhelmed with bad news that nothing gets focused on. The MSM sees no patterns. The unfortunate result is the bad news crowds out the bad news. What I mean is, so much crap keeps happening to this Administration that nothing lasts but one news cycle anyway.

It's a cryin' shame. Maybe the Democrats will cobble together a spine from all this and say "no" to something.

With the passing of CJ Rehnquist, they'll have their chance soon.

Eric, Has that press release been withdrawn? The link is dead and I can't find the press release on her site.

More obscenity,
From a Reuters story:

"Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld toured a medical facility at New Orleans' international airport on Sunday. He spoke and shook hands with military and rescue officials but walked right by a dozen refugees lying on stretchers just feet away from him, most of them extremely sick or handicapped."
