Comment? (For full punning effect, read with French accent.)
Michelle has received some of the ugliest, most racist and sexist e-mails and comments that I've ever seen. Why should she have to spend time policing a comments section for the trash that some people think it entertaining to spew at her just because they can't stand the idea of having a woman expressing conservative ideas.Well, how about because she said she would?
When she turned off the comments, she said this:
So: For now, I'll have a regular open comments section every Wednesday when I post my new syndicated column and I'll be far more judicious in opening comments on other posts. I will aim for a few comment-enabled posts each week, and we'll go from there. She has never opened comments since. Not Wednesdays. Not never.
Oh, and one little amusing thing: in explaining her decision to reduce (but not eliminate) comments, she said this:
"Like most bloggers, I don't have interns or assistants to help out with the blog."Is that so?
Oh, one more little amusing thing: When Newmark first posted her defense of Malkin, it said this:
"Why should she have to spend time policing a comments section for the trash that some people think it entertaining to spew at her just because they can't stand the idea of having an attractive woman expressing conservative ideas."Notice that in the version now up on the site, Newmark has edited out the word "attractive."
Inquiring minds want to know: Does the correction indicate that Newmark finds Malkin unattractive? Or did she just get lots of complaints from unattractive conservatives?

Why isn't trackback turned off on all the old posts? I don't see any spam on any of the other trackbacks. Hmmm...

I always considered Jesse to be "ruggedly handsome."

I assume UNC has at least a dozen interns helping you out with your comments, no? :)

If you scroll down on her page, she lists at the bottom her technical assistants. I don't know when she got this help, but presumably someone could not have assistants a year ago and have them now.
I removed "attractive" not b/c I thought she was unattractive, but b/c it was suggested to me that calling her that would just bring out more moonbats quibbling with that characterization. Better to focus on substance, I thought, than standards of beauty. Little did I realize the fascination that people have in alleging all sorts of picayune things about Michelle Malkin's blog.

Well, my fascination with Malkin is her connection with the new statist right. I find the whole turn to a craving for "tough managers" to be as fascinating as it is disturbing. The fact that Malkin's blog doesn't allow the plebians to question her material in comments seems to me to be probably related to this craving for power and control (put those devious little bastards in camps!).
But, somehow I feel compelled to point out that:
Why should she have to spend time policing a comments section for the trash that some people think it entertaining to spew at her just because they can't stand the idea of having an attractive woman expressing conservative ideas.
Focuses on the "substance" no more than:
Why should she have to spend time policing a comments section for the trash that some people think it entertaining to spew at her just because they can't stand the idea of having a woman expressing conservative ideas.
You see both comments imply that she needs to institute a comment police state primarily because she isn't liked as a "woman" or as an "attractive woman." Both focus simply on her gender or her physical attractiveness; neither really deal in any significant way with the "substance" of her ideas. Either statement may be true, but neither is about substance.

I allege that the substance of her recent book has been so thoroughly demolished that promoting it is the same thing as lying. Picayune?
