Yum.
The. Best. Dessert. Ever.
They call my town Chapel Hill "the Southern Part of Heaven," but it's not: it has no Dairy Queen.

Professor Muller,
I am in no way excusing Chapel Hill's lack of a Dairy Queen. Indeed, as much as I will miss Chapel Hill in some ways, I am glad to be heading back to parts with readily-accessible Blizzards. But, I am going to let you and your readers in on a little secret, an approximation of the Blizzard that can be had on East Franklin Street.
TCBY has a Blizzard-like treat. I think it's called a Shiver. At the TCBY at Eastgate they'll put any of their toppings in, and they have both chocolate and vanilla yogurt, so you can approximate many of the Blizzard flavors. My favorite Blizzard is the banana split blizzard (only if made with twist ice cream), and the TCBY version is a close second when I have them make it. It's a little more expensive (closer to $4 than Dairy Queen's $3), but it's a little larger than the Blizzard, too. I know it's not the same as the DQ, but, again, not bad.

Yes, I have had to turn to the TCBY Shiver as a Blizzard surrogate. (Vanilla yogurt with oreo and cookie dough blended in.)
But it runs a distant second.

Professor, this is an issue where we can agree 100%. At the risk of introducing disagreement, what's your favorite topping?

My favorite blizzard is the chocolate chip blizzard. It's real simple: they use vanilla ice cream and blend in the chocolate topping that they usually use for the "dipped" cones--you know, the chocolate that hardens into a shell on top of the ice cream. Yum yum yum.

The Dairy Queen finder shows a DQ within 10 miles of your house, Eric.
Try this.

If Eric's anything like me, he's aware of the DQ in Northgate. We won't be satisfied until they put one in downtown Carrboro (they should have made that tv repair store a Dairy Queen) - Maple View is great, but Dairy Queen products are made with ice milk!

Eric liking DQ. Almost had me going there for a second!
