H. Richard Uviller, 1929-2005

I
just learned that Columbia Law School'sRichard Uviller, a leading scholar in the law of criminal law and procedure, recently died after a battle with cancer.

I was lucky enough to have had several opportunities to spend time with him, including a lunch with him a few years ago when he was here in the Triangle visiting at Duke Law School.

He was a lovely, learned man, who had a big impact on the fields in which he worked.
